What not to say to an adoptive family:

For those of you who have adopted before, you may have encountered some poorly worded questions about your experience or adopted children. Perhaps you have been a person who asked a question in a way that could be received negatively. Here are some helpful and humorous tips on how to ask a question without being hurtful or offensive. From my experience, adoptive families love to share their story and help educate others . If a question is asked appropriately, adoptive families won't mind at all being asked or talking about their experience.
