Our Family
Tim, Kaitlyn, Kaylee, and Uriah: we are a family of four living in a small Utah community. Our day-to-day life is simple; we’re happy and we love each other. We have always wanted a large family and struggled with the discovery of our infertility. While not easy or pleasant, we learned a lot from dealing with our infertility and feel blessed to have adopted Kaylee and Uriah. We hope our family can continue to grow through adoption.
Tim is the tallest in his family coming in at a whopping 5 foot 8 inches. He is constantly joking and is a big tease. Tim could be described as jovial. He’s always laughing and doing what he can to help others feel happy. Tim has a booming, energetic voice, which has gotten us into trouble more than once when the kids are sleeping. He enjoys spending time with kids (perhaps because they think his jokes are funny). Tim currently works as an assistant principal and has also worked as a middle school and high school teacher and at a school district office helping with curriculum development. Tim is completely interested in technology and new gadgets and gizmos. He loves to implement different types of technology into his job and at home.
Kaitlyn is kindhearted and even-tempered. She thrives on routines and schedules, yet would like to think she is also flexible. Kaitlyn is methodical and prefers to get all the chores and assignments finished before enjoying other leisure activities. She loves to spend time with others. Kaitlyn enjoys being physically active and doing things outdoors. She is always looking for ways to develop new skills and talents and enjoys creating things at home. Kaitlyn taught school for 5 years and was a bit of a perfectionist with her lesson planning. Today she is a stay-at-home mom, real estate investor (she flips houses), and loves taking care of our home and family.
Kaylee is an energetic, determined eight-year old. She is a happy kid that loves to smile and laugh and especially loves getting her way. She is frequently found reading or creating her own graphic novels. She is really imaginative and loves to come up with big ideas and party plans. Currently, she is taking gymnastics and cooking lessons.
Uriah is a happy, energetic 5-year-old. He is nearly always smiling. He is often found jumping, bouncing, running, or standing on his head. He loves to pester his sister and our dog, Parker. Currently, he is taking gymnastics and says he is going to do it forever.
As a family, we love to experience new things, whether that’s trying a new recipe or taking a road trip. We like to make new friends and invite them over for dinner and games. We also love to spend time with one another. As a couple, we have had the opportunity to work together in various ways. We have been tour guides and schoolteachers, nursery leaders and webelos scout leaders, even coaches of a competitive jump rope team. We are, in every sense of the words, best friends.

Our experience with adopting Uriah was unique, but proved to be as special and positive as Kaylee's adoption. We regularly share photos and videos of each of our kids with their birth families and occasionally visit in person. It is clear to us that Kaylee's birthmother loves her and wants Kaylee to know that. Uriah's birthmother loves him and wants him to know that. We intend to help convey that message to each of our kids throughout their lives. We want all our future children to know they are loved, not only by us, but also by their birth parents.
